The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelaziz Bouteflika, met today in Algiers with the president of Tunisia’s Ennahda movement, Mr. Rachid Ghannouchi, who is making a visit to Algeria.

The meeting took place at Djenan El Mufti State Residence and was attended by the president of the Council of the Nation, Mr. Abdelkader Bensalah, and Minister Delegate for Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelkader Messahel.

Speaking to reporters after his meeting with the President, Mr. Ghannouchi declared that “Algerian-Tunisian relations have always been good and will be better in the wake of the Jasmine Revolution.”

“We are optimistic about the future and we consider that Algerian-Tunisian relations bode well for a better future in the whole Maghreb region,” added the Tunisian leader.
