Algérie Presse Service (APS) - March 18, 2013
An exhibit unveiled today at the SAFEX Exhibition Palace in Algiers is devoted to the achievements made by Algerian diplomacy, its major orientations, and the milestones of its history since the war for national independence.
Themed "50 Years of Diplomacy: Memories and Achievements," the exhibit, which will remain open until March 23, was unveiled by Minister for Foreign Affairs Mourad Medelci, in the presence of members of the government and representatives from the diplomatic corps accredited to Algeria.
Pictures, videos, and archive material retracing the history of Algerian diplomacy since the war for national liberation, as well as its deployment throughout the world, are being displayed at the exhibit.
This event, part of the activities celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of national independence, highlights the role of Algerian in the settlement of certain conflicts and crisis situations throughout the world, the principles on which Algerian diplomacy was founded, namely support of just causes, the right of peoples to self-determination, non-interference in the domestic affairs of states, as well as its fight for more equitable international relations.
Exhibit includes a room featuring documentaries devoted to the history and achievements of Algerian diplomacy.
In remarks he made on that occasion, Mr. Medelci said the choice of March 18 as inauguration day for the exhibit is "not fortuitous", considering that the date coincides with the date of signature of the Evian Accords, "which sealed through negotiation that which the November Revolution had made as supreme sacrifice."
