Algeria has reiterated its "pressing call to our Syrian brothers" to implement on the occasion of the festival of Eid al-Adha the truce proposed by Lakhdar Brahimi, the special envoy of the United Nations and the Arab League.
"Forth-eight hours away from the celebration of Eid al-Adha, one of the holiest Muslim holidays, we reiterate our pressing call to our Syrian brothers and we urge them to agree to implement the truce proposed by Lakhdar Brahimi, the special envoy of the United Nations and the Arab League," Mr. Amar Belani, Spokesman for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, said in a statement to APS.
"This truce will allow the brotherly Syrian people to observe this holy festival in a climate of peace and security and to create conditions likely to open a path to a political process aimed at bringing an end to the cycle of violence and meet the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people," he added.
