Algérie Presse Service (APS) - Jan. 18, 2013
Minister for Foreign Affairs Mourad Medelci met today with the ambassadors of the United States, France, Great Britain, Japan, Austria, Norway, Canada, and the European Union.
The meeting was an opportunity for the minister to "update the information previously provided to the heads of mission of the concerned countries and to the leaders of those countries through telephone conversations exchanged between Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal and Mr. Mourad Medelci and their counterparts on the situation of their respective citizens working on the site," said the spokesman for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Amar Belani.
The meeting had been scheduled with some heads of mission soon after the start of the terrorist attack on the gas plant at Tiguentourine, In Amenas, as information follow-up.
After the meeting, the participants agreed to "keep in touch to share and update all useful information," Mr. Belani added.
For their part, the ambassadors expressed "the solidarity and support of their countries to the efforts deployed by the Algerian government," the same source added.
