NOTICE
As it pursues implementation of measures allowing concerned individuals to adjust their status regarding National Service, the Embassy of Algeria hereby informs all persons concerned of the start of a status adjustment operation for the benefit of citizens born between January 1, 1989 and December 31, 1989 (Class of 2009) and holdovers from prior classes.
Passport-National Identification Card Renewal
Birth Certificate of one of the Parents instead of a Nationality Certificate

Renewal of expired passports or national identification cards will no longer require applicants to submit a nationality certificate; instead, they can now submit a birth certificate of either one of the parents or, alternatively, a death certificate of one of the parents, said a statement issued yesterday by the Ministry of Interior and Local Governments.

This Ministerial Directive is intended, in the framework of enforced legislation, to specify the practical dispositions for the facilitation of free trans-border circulation by minor children, uphold their parents’ prerogatives, and protect minor children against transnational criminality (human trafficking, organ trafficking). It modifies the provisions included in Directive No. 15 dated August 29, 1972, issued by the Ministry of Interior and Local Governments and applicable to the exit of minor children from the national territory.
