ALGIERS- Industry and Investments Promotion Minister Abdelhamid Temmar called on November 17, 2008, Argentine businessmen to acquire shares in Algerian industrial, state-owned companies which have been, for two years, the subject of a governmental reflationary policy aiming at "creating" or "recreating" competitive, industrial companies operating in the strategic field. Speaking at a seminar on trade, business and investment opportunities between Algeria and Argentina," bringing together businessmen from the two countries, Temmar voiced his wish that Argentine firms get "minority" shares in Algerian companies. He cited, for instance, the companies working in petrochemical, pharmaceutical, agrobusiness, metal or fertilizer industries which, according to him, are more in need of better management than of financial resources.
