Important Notice

Starting February 1st, 2010, individual applicants can submit personally their visa applications directly to the Embassy.

Those who wish to submit their visa applications to "Algeria Visa Center ", may do so.

Diplomatic/Official/Laissez-passer passport holders are advised to continue to submit their visa applications directly to the Embassy.
 
The Embassy will make sure that all visa applications are handled and processed expeditiously.


All Nationals of foreign countries not included in the following table require a visa to enter Algeria.

Nationals from the following countries do not require a visa to travel to Algeria:

VISAINSTRUCTIONS

  1. Please read carefully the instructions before filling out the application forms in duplicate. Answer all the questions on the application form and fill out all the sections of the form.  For example, if your parents are deceased, give their full names. Do not leave the section blank and do not write “Deceased”.

  2. Remember to submit your passport when you apply for a visa and please attach two standard passport-size photos (glued or stapled). Photos must be recent, frontal-view, of the same batch, untouched, taken on white background and showing applicant wearing no glasses of any kind, except for prescription eyewear. Please write first and last names of applicant in pencil on back of photos. Passport must have at least six months remaining validity and contain at least one blank visa page for visa to be issued.

  3. Both forms must bear the original signature of the applicant. 

  4. The applications must be filled on screen only. No hand written will be accepted  (MS WORD)  (PDF)

  5. A non-refundable US Post Office money-order  only acceptable (individual) made payable to the order of the Embassy of Algeria in the amount of $135.00 for US citizens. All other nationals must check with the Visa Section for the applicable requirements and fees.

  6. Business Visa applicants must include a letter on official letterhead from their employer stating the purpose of their trip, and the full names and addresses of their contacts in Algeria. Applicants must submit with their application an invitation letter from the Algerian company they intend to visit.

  7.  Work Visa applicants must submit with their visa application an employment authorization delivered by the Algerian Ministry of Labor. The Embassy will not accept any authorization faxed or mailed separately.

  8. Tourism Visa applicants must submit an itinerary of their airline travel and a confirmed Hotel reservation in Algeria.

  9. Family Guest Visits: Applicants must provide with their application an invitation from their host in Algeria and notarized at the city hall of the place of residence of the Algerian host. The Embassy will not accept invitations faxed or sent separately.

Spouses of Algerian Citizens should submit a copy of the current Consulate Registration Card of their spouse and a notarized sponsorship letter signed by the Algerian spouse.

Return of Passports: Applicants may pick up their passports at the Embassy between 3:00 - 4:00 Pm (Monday to Thursday) or send a prepaid self-addressed envelope with an express US postal service, including an air bill naming them as the sender and receiver of the mail. The Embassy is not responsible for the lost or delays of document by the post office or other visa services.

 


IMPORTANT

  • Complete documentation is required. Incomplete documentation or neglect to include a document or to fill out the forms correctly may delay the processing time or the documents being returned to applicant at cost.

  • Processing of an application may be delayed, if prior agreement by Algerian authorities is required. Furthermore, the Embassy reserves the right to request additional documentation from any applicant. It is not the responsibility of the Embassy if there is any delay in the processing of the visa application.

  • Applicants should make travel arrangements to Algeria based on the date of entry indicated on their visa. Applicants should not arrive in Algeria before that date; they will not be allowed to enter. In case of change in travel plans, applicants must apply for a new visa.

  • For inquiries about visa application status, please contact the visa office Monday thru Thursday from 9:00am to 11:00am and from 3pm to 4:30 pm.

  • The visas documents are accepted between 9Am-11Am (Monday to Thursday.

Business Visa

  • Submit your U.S. Passport with at least 6 months remaining validity
  • Visa Application Forms, fully completed, TYPED ONLINE, and signed. Original signature required  on each page.
  • Passport-type photographs required
  • A letter of invitation from the host company in Algeria is required
  • Copy of itinerary or air tickets showing onward travel. The business visa is issued valid for the specific dates as requested on your applications form. The Embassy of Algeria advises applicants to make their travel arrangements based of the date of entry. Applicants should not arrive in Ageria before that date.
  • A business letter of responsibility typewritten on your company letterhead is required and must be addressed to:

    Embassy of Algeria, Visa Section, 2118 Kalorama Road, NW, Washington, D.C. 20008.

The letter must explain all of the following::

o Nature of business to be performed;
o Name and address of reference to be visited in Algeria;
o Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit.
o This letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant. 

 


Tourist Visa :                             

  •  Submit your U.S. Passport with at least 6 months remaining validity

  • Visa Application Forms, fully completed, TYPED ONLINE, and signed. Original signature required on each page.

  •  Passport-type photographs required

  • Copy of airline tickets or itinerary, showing dates of entry and exit from Algeria, and copy of confirmed hotel reservation. The tourist visa is issued valid for the specific dates as requested on your applications form.

    The Embassy of Algeria advises applicants to make their travel arrangements based of the date of entry of their visa. Applicants should not arrive in Algeria before that date.

Family Visit Visa                                                

Familly visa has the same requirements as the other types of visas to enter Algeria with specific documents related to the family visit. Please contact the consulate office for more details.

 

Family visit applicants must provide with their application an invitation from their host in Algeria and notarized at the city hall of the place of residence of the Algerian host.

Cultural Visa

 

The cultural visa has the same requirements as the other types of visas to enter Algeria but with specific documents related to the cultural visit. Please contact the consulate office for more details.

Press Visa

Before visiting Algeria, the applicant has to apply for a press visa granted by the concerned authorities in Algeria (Accreditation). The applicant needs to fill the specific application form and provide the related documentation. Please allow in of time for the Embassy to proceed the request.
