Along with six of his African peers, the Head of the State will participate in a dialogue with his counterparts from G8 member countries over the ways and means to strengthen the Africa-G8 partnership, initiated on the occasion of the launching of the NEPAD in 2001.

In this respect, the Heads of State and Government will namely review the prospects of achieving the Millennium Development Objectives highlighting, in particular, the measures required at the national, regional, and global level, in order to efficiently reach the goals relating to the health of mothers, newborns, and infants, as set by the Millennium Summit Declaration held in 2000.

They will examine as well the modalities for a more substantial support by the G8 to African efforts aimed at preserving stability, security, and peace on the continent.

Finally, they will take part in an assessment of the enforcement of the commitments included in the partnership platforms adopted on the occasion of the successive G8 summit meetings.
