Counterterrorism: Algeria's approach can be a model for others in the region

Algeria has adopted “a very efficient” approach to the fight against terrorism and can be a model for the other countries of the region, said British Major General Robin Searby, speaking in London on November 30.

“The Algerian government is very efficient in the fight against terrorism and Great Britain is confident and optimistic about their approach,” said to Algérie Presse Service (APS) the British military official, in a statement made at the close of the second meeting of the Algerian-British bilateral counterterrorism cooperation contact group, which ended its proceedings in London on December 1.

Major General Searby, who was a member of the British delegation to the meeting and advisor to the Prime Minister on counterterrorism issues for the Maghreb region, added that “For Great Britain, Algeria already enjoys great experience and we are bring our full support to the Algerian government in its fight against Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.”
