The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelaziz Bouteflika, has received yesterday in Algiers Africom Commander General Carter F. Ham, who arrived in Algeria for talks on counterterrorism and issues related to Africa.

After his audience with the President, General Carter F. Ham declared to the media that “We have had a very deep discussion on the security situation in Mali. What matters the most now is a return to a civilian government in that country.”

Africom Commander added that his talks with the head of the state have also dealt with issues of mutual interest and noted in that respect the great convergence of views, as he declared that “It appears clearly that the US and Algerian positions have a lot in common.”
