Ghardaia celebrates Yennayer 2961 on Monday

 

ALGIERS - Several cultural activities are scheduled from Monday in Ghardaia to celebrate the New Amazigh Year Yennayer 2961.

 

An eventful programme for the promotion and enhancement of Amazigh language and culture was prepared by the Amazigh High Commission (HCA). Exhibitions of culinary arts from various regions of the country, round-tables on the symbolism of Yennayer and a mini-book fair are scheduled throughout the event which runs until January 12.

A typical traditional dinner of the region will be offered during Tuesday evening (January 11). The next day, round tables around the teaching of Tamazight in the region and the history of the Amazigh people will be organized. A tribute to the pioneers of M'Zab culture, who worked for its promotion as well as educational caravans on Amazigh language writing and reading are also among the activities.
