THE ARABIAN SIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL AUDIENCE AWARD FOR BEST FILM GOES TO THE ALGERIAN MOVIE MASQUERADES
In collaboration with the Embassy of Algeria in Washington, Masquerades, a movie by Algerian director Lyés Salem, was presented on October 16 and 17, 2009, at the 14th DC festival of Arab Film,
The Arabian Sights Film Festival‚ held in the US capital from the 9th to the 18th of October. A reception open to the public followed the October 17th projection of Masquerades. Scheduled to be shown across the United States in 2010, the movie was greatly acclaimed by a mostly American audience and selected as the festival's best production. With The Arabian Sights Film Festival Award‚ Masquerades is being recognized once again as a film festival's best movie after being honored as best movie at the Dubai International Film Festival.
London River, a movie by Algerian director Rachid Bouchareb, which gained an award at the Berlin Film Festival, was also shown at The Arabian Sights Film Festival and met with remarkable success.
