Director Rachid Bouchareb received, on 02/27/11, in Los Angeles, the certificate of nomination for the film "Outside the Law" at the Oscars in the category of best foreign film during a meeting bringing together the five directors selected in the same category.
The film "Outside-the-law" whose selection at the 63rd International Film Festival in Cannes (2010), which aroused in France a hostile media campaign from nostalgic colonial France enthusiasts, is a feature film (2:18) which tackles, through fiction, the fight and struggle of the Algerian people for its liberation from colonial rule. Released in 2010, the film tells the story of three brothers, Said (Jamel Debbouze), Messaoud (Roschdy Zem) and Abdelkader (Sami Bouajila). Their fates are different but their struggle is the same, living in peace and dignity because they are bound by their attachment to their mother (Chafia Boudraa) and their homeland.
