Algeria, US sign customs cooperation agreement

Algeria and the United States have signed an agreement on customs cooperation on Thursday here.

The agreement was inked by Algerian Customs Director General Mohamed Abdou Bouderbala and US Ambassador to Algeria David D. Pearce, in the presence of US Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs Jose W. Fernandez.

According to the terms of the agreement, the two customs administrations will strengthen their mutual assistance, especially in the prevention, investigation and repression of customs offences.

This assistance is also broadened to the exchange of information on the new procedures of offences committees. This agreement will provide for the exchange of experience on best practices relating to customs procedures, computerization and training.
