During a visit to the city of Oran, U.S. Ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Henry S. Ensher, said on September 28 that Algeria holds “multiple business opportunities, going beyond the hydrocarbon sector.”
At a press conference held after a meeting with business entrepreneurs at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Oran Region (CCIO), Mr. Hensher said that, in his talks with the local business community, he had examined the possibilities of developing relations in areas such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, ICT, renewable energies, and education.
The U.S. diplomat also said that he is committed to improve the existing relations to contribute to the “development of a future Oran.” “We have met today with the Wali (Governor) of Oran and we have discussed the possibilities of developing areas of cooperation with investment firms, to enable them to be involved in (the development of) a future Oran,” he said.
The U.S. ambassador, who was accompanied by Political Affairs Secretary Steve Mraf and economy expert Nasreddine Gouri during his one-day visit to Oran, was also scheduled to visit several archeological sites in the area, including the Santa Cruz Chapel.
