Algeria and the United States sign MOU in Higher Education

A Memorandum of Understanding on the “Algerian Universities Linkages Program” was signed on January 10 in Algiers by Mr. Mohamed Gherras, Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and U.S. Ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Henry Ensher.

The program, estimated to cost $2 million, will be implemented by World Learning.

It aims to enhance the research and English language teaching skills of doctoral students at the universities of Algiers, Annaba, and Oran. Furthermore, at Ouargla “Kasdi Merbah” University, the program will help faculty at English Language Studies and Business Management departments improve the quality of their teaching skills.

U.S. Ambassador Henry Ensher recalled as well the cooperation program signed between the Constantine “Mentouri” University and the University of Michigan’s William Davidson Institute.

Mr. Ensher reiterated his country’s commitment to work with Algeria to strengthen relations between their respective institutions and develop stronger cooperation with civil society.
