The United States supports the political reforms and democratic process engaged in Algeria, says U.S. Ambassador Ensher

U.S. Ambassador to Algeria Henry S. Ensher reiterated U.S. support for the ongoing political reforms and democratic process in Algeria.
Algeria has deployed “encouraging efforts” to implement a democratic process aimed at strengthening stability and ensuring economic development, declared Mr. Ensher, speaking at a meeting with elected officials of the Wilaya People’s Assembly in Ghardaïa.
“The United States supports any democratic process in the world and we encourage a policy of dialogue and promotion of understanding between peoples,” he said.
Ambassador Ensher is visiting Ghardaïa to pursue contacts established by his embassy with local economic operators.
In this framework, the U.S. diplomat expressed his support for setting up mechanisms to increase exchanges and partnerships between economic operators and institutions from both countries. During his visit to the Wilaya of Ghardaïa, Mr. Ensher held meetings with various officials, including the Wali and the President and members of the Wilaya People’s Assembly (WPA) and enquired about opportunities for cooperation and exchanges, namely in the area of education and teaching of the English language.
The U.S. ambassador also took some time off and visited some of the tourist sites classified as World Heritage sites by UNESCO, including the city’s Souk, where Mr. Ensher marveled at the area’s beautiful architecture and handicraft.
