Visit to Algeria by U.S. Senator Robert Corker

Minister Delegate for Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelkader Messahel hosted today U.S. Senator Robert Corker, who arrived in Algeria for a visit as part of an African trip.
The U.S. senator had met previously with Minister for Foreign Affairs Mourad Medelci.
Mr. Corker was also hosted by Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal. Their discussions dealt with "bilateral relations and economic exchanges, as well as the situation prevailing in the region."
During the meeting, the two sides "noted with satisfaction the quality and evolution of multi-sector exchanges and the concertation on international issues taking place as part of the strategic dialogue established between the two countries since last October."
Senator Corker also met with Minister of Interior and Local Governments Daho Ould Kablia.
He declared that his talks with Algerian officials have dealt with the situation in Mali and in the Sahel region as well as with the partnership between Algeria and the United States in the economic and counterterrorism areas.
