Debate in Tlemcen on the importance of dialogue between cultures and religions
TLEMCEN (Algeria)- The importance of intercultural and inter-religious dialogue on societies rapprochement was highlighted Wednesday in Tlemcen, by participants in a workshop on the theme "Islam, Orientalism and dialogue between cultures."
"The dialogue meets an intercultural concern and the most urgent requirement than ever," Head of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Tlemcen Professor Mohamed Saidi said at the opening of this international meeting, marked by the participation of many Algerians and foreign teachers and researchers. "Only dialogue is likely to allay the perpetual cultural and religious dispute between East and West," he said, before stressing that "Orientalism is a cultural and epistemic area, but is also a founder element of the inter-civilization dialogue."
