[Aps 4/4/11]
TLEMCEN (Algeria)- Minister of Religious Affairs Bouabdallah Ghlamallah launched Sunday the Scientific and cultural activities organized by his department as part of "Tlemcen, Capital of the Islamic Culture 2011" event.
Speaking at the opening of a conference about "the spiritual and human dimensions of the civilization of Tlemcen (540 km west of Algiers)" at Abou Bekr Belkaid University, in the presence of many imams, the minister said the meeting was the first of a series of scientific and cultural activities planned by the Religious ministry, in coordination with the university, under the international cultural event. The ministry's contribution is centered upon two goals. One of them is restoring tangible heritage (mosques, zawiyas and other religious sites) to restore their influence of the past and build new infrastructures, including an Islamic Cultural Centre, a Holy Quran school and a Centre for Islamic Studies.
